All Bad Girls will agree that quilting and cooking are near and dear to our hearts. Well, you won’t want to miss having your own copy of Quilter’s Cookbook! As an avid cook and quilter, Debbie Martinez of Pins and Needles Quilt Shop came up with the Quilter’s Cookbook idea when she got tired of always looking through her recipes for her favorites. Her theory was that the more time she spent searching, the less time she had for quilting. Putting all her favorite recipes into one book made sense. As a quilter, throwing in quilting tips and patterns made even more sense! Many of Debbie’s recipes are crock pot or other quick-to-make meals. So while you’re hard at work quilting you can be preparing dinner at the same time! As she worked on the cookbook, her friends and fellow quilters were happy to share their favorite recipes and hints. The end result is a beautiful three-ring binder full of goodies. I must confess that like Debbie, I enjoy reading cookbooks almost as much as novels. I like to read each ingredient and imagine what the end result tastes like. I enjoy noting which recipes I’d like to prepare first. Quilter’s Cookbook includes the following categories: - Appetizers and Beverages
- Soups and Salads
- Vegetables & Side Dishes
- Main Dishes
- Breads & Rolls
- Desserts
- Cookies & Candy
- This & That
- More Hints
- Patterns
The More Hints category includes the Buttermilk Recipe for removing old age spots. There are even charts for how many strips or squares you can get out of a yard or half yard of fabric. The Patterns section has some adorable kitchen projects with instructions, supply lists, and patterns included. The inside of the cover has a handy common food substitution chart, roasting chart, pasta cook time chart, food storage guidelines, slow cooker tips, and measurement equivalents. Debbie has come up with a winning combination in Quilter’s Cookbook. With its binder style, you’ll be able to add your own pages if you desire. You’ll definitely want one of your own but don’t forget about gifts for your quilting buddies, mother, sister, or daughter. One warning: After reading Quilter’s Cookbook, you will have a hard time choosing your first recipe to prepare! As for me, I’m heading to the kitchen to prepare Cream Cheese Crock Pot Chicken…I’m sure my family will come home to a delicious aroma and think I’ve been cooking all day (silly them!).
