Hello Deb,

I too love stack and whack quilts. I have only made two of them and nothing like what you have discribed, just the general stack star design. Would love to try and do something like what your icon looks like though

I am glad that you decided to join the group, we are all a bit crazy and addicted to fabrics and anything to do with quilting. It sounds like you have alot to contribute to this forum, I know we can all learn from you.

Thanks for the warm welcome Mamu.. I will post more pics do you have albums or do we just post in the threads we are typing.. I have been looking for instructions so that I know what I am doing but have not seen any yet.. I am pretty good a figuring things out but didn't see any albums of others quilts posted.. did see a thread that someone was show/sharing.

I got to veiw a few of the Threads and I think I belong.. I was a very very bad girl today!! A quilt shop is closing and of course like the fabric vulture I am I swooped to the store and got a bag load of Bunnykins at 50% off.. now I am not a kiddie fab fan.. no kids.. but I am going to use this fabric in a new quilt that I will be working on to display in the store for fall.. so I am reved and ready to work on it.. when it is done I will post.. oh did I tell you I love to show and share!!

this is going to be fun.. can't wait to see what other trouble I can get into here!! hey as the saying goes got to be bad to be good!!

You can buy the book One block wonder on Ebay or Amazon.. it is great and easy.. peesy to do.. you only use one fabric no background fabric and you will need a design wall to place the blocks on.. I currently have another one on my wall I will post it is almost done and it was with the Laurel Birch mystical horses.. the large ones it looks awesome it is my favorite one out of 11 that I have done.. don't ask!! I see fabric a whole new way.. my stash is so totally out of control!!

Deb,

We usually just post the picture to the topic we are writing on. You can always post your pictures to a new topic so everyone will know that there is a 'new' pic of a quilt to be seen. We all love to see pics Please post as many as you like!

I have a pic of a quilt I did, listed in 'my newest quilt' section. It is the red, green, cream Eureka qult. But, that is the only pic of any quilts that I have posted.

I will look for the One Block Wonder book....actually I might have it? But, if I don't I will certainly look into getting one as I really love this look! Thanks for letting us know about it.

Deb....

I was wondering if you could give some suggestions on what type of fabric to look for to get the look that you have pictured? Since I have a rather LARGE fabric stash, I am sure I have something that I could use. How much yardage is usual for this type of quilt.....bed size?

Sure I can tell you about the fabric best for this quilt.. you don't buy by yardage but by the repeated print of the fabric.. you will need 6 repeats..
unlike stack and whack make sure you see no more than 5 colors that is counting your background..
when you put your fist on the fabric a motif should be touching every part of your fist.. and there should be some background movement as well to help with the spiral spinning effect..

I am just finishing one withe Laural Birch Fabric with mystical horses.. not sure if you know it but it is with the large horses... and it is my favorite one so far!! out 11 done!!

post some fabs if you like and i can let you know.. make sure you let me know the size of the largest motif..

hope this helps Deb

Thanks, that will help me figure out just what I may need to do this great quilt!
I am sure that I must have something that will work in my stash. The only problem is......I start looking through everything and get that dreaded "side track' disease that takes you away from the task at hand!!
Sometimes it is like Christmas with great surprises and other times it is more like 'what was I thinking!"
