We're 500 strong!! by mburtz 2 Years, 6 Months ago With the addition of daisydeb, we're now 500 strong on the forum!!! Thank you all for joining and participating...and being bad with us!
It is such a thrill to see a creation, whether it's a quilt or a website, take on a life of its own. It's really hard to tear myself away from the forum. Thank you to all of you who have sent me suggestions for improvements (we're working on each and every one of them), recipes, and potential articles. Hopefully, this will be a fantastic sew-cial network for all of us quilters...bad girls and boys alike. "Bad is the new Good!"

Re:We're 500 strong!! by Mamu 2 Years, 6 Months ago Maybe we could get our host, mburtz, to organize a block exchange and/or a round robin for us all to do????? What do you think girls?

Re:We're 500 strong!! by Jessica 2 Years, 6 Months ago Yes, if our host didn't mind she could set up the rules...or guidellines for us and whoever wanted to join could sign up....we would also need personal contact information, etc. to send blocks back and forth....this is exciting....
I am sure that not everyone can be involved everytime...we all have busy lives...but over time we could end up gettin gto know everyone...how great!!!

Re:We're 500 strong!! by mburtz 2 Years, 6 Months ago I'm up for a block swap if you are! Some things to be thinking about:
A pattern to use that is readily available and easy to sew...so quilters of all levels can participate. A color or fabric theme. How many participants we'd like to have. Typically, it works this way: we have a signup time for participants and the rules (block design, size, colors, and timeline) are set. Each participant makes a block for each of the other swappers and sends them to the host with a return envelope. The blocks are swapped and sent back to each participant. Then you make up your top and share photos if possible. It's really fun and amazingly, the tops look so different as each person creates their masterpiece. I'm thinking we could start with a block swap and work our way up to a round robin as that is a different level of committment. I don't mind being the host but if anyone else would like to volunteer, it's not a lot of work and it's fun to be the first one to see all the blocks! "Bad is the new Good!"

Re:We're 500 strong!! by queennonna 2 Years, 6 Months ago On the block swap why don't we each pick our own block pattern, but must all use the same colors, and size. This sounds like a fun way to get to know each other. We should also put our names on our blocks or send something so we each know who did what one. I will volunteer to help organize.
In a block swapper group I am in now we send our blocks to each person on the list ourselves. Which means there is no one who needs to be in the middle. It works great. Nonna
