Nothing received here yet...may take a couple of extra days to get to Australia. Nothing from Mona.

This is the first time I have ever participated in a swap of any kind. Is this the way they all end up???

Mouse.....

Absolutely not! The other forums I have participated in, are very conscientious ladies. They adhere to the rules of the swap and don't leave you hanging or wondering where their blocks are.
I know that you are a member of one of the other forums and I would encourage you to participate in swaps there without worry.
Please do not be discouraged by this swap, as this is not normal.

No, not all swaps are handled the same way. All of the other swaps that I have been in, everyone is very conscientious about getting their blocks to the other swapers on time. Please do not be discouraged by this one swap. As a general rule of thumb they are a lot of fun and it is interesting to see other quilters blocks.

I am actually glad to see your responses about other swaps - this was the first one I had participated in and based on it, I was determined NEVER to participate in one again. I thought the chickens were adorable and not really hard to do, so all that agreed to make them would have no problems. I even made extras because I was told new people wanted to join the group. The ones I received are adorable and I love them but I am disappointed in the people that never finished the blocks. I am not sure I will ever participate in such a swap again.

I think that mburtz and her mother are the only ones that never sent out blocks??? to bad, since she is the founder of this forum and the moderator of this swap.

I would not let this leave a bad taste in your mouth, Fusemeister. I know chicken can be a little dry without the proper fixn's, but it is still good to have
Seriously, I really wouldn't let this experience be the end of you participating in future swaps. I belong to a couple of other forums and have already been in several swaps with wonderful success and the experience is great joy. So, there are ladies out there that are responsible. You can learn good things from these swaps too. I think I put a couple of links under Join our Group title....take a look and see what responsible ladies have been doing for swaps.....you will like it

Hey There Fusemeister,

Please, please don't let this swap be the last one you participate in...Not all the swaps are handled in this way. there are a lot of good people who are quilters who stay committed to what they pledge to do in a block swap. I am sorry that for your first swap it has not been what you expected it to be. You can learn and see what wonderful ideas that other swapers have in block swaps, plus you get to meet new people and make new friends. There is an old saying, it goes like this..." You can lead a horse to the water trough, but you can't make him drink" Unfortunatly the founder of this forum can't seem to finish what she started in the block swap. Once again not all swaps are handled in this manner and there really are some great swaps and forums to belong to.

Hi Jessica,

Just to let you know that your chicken arrived in the post today - love the colors that you have used.

Cheers,
Mouse.

Fusemeister,,,,,

Think of it this way.... you have extra blocks that you can use in your project!! I think that everyone has gotten blocks (except for mburtz and her mothers and it doesn't look like we will be getting any blocks from them....I'm not holding my breath) so you can go ahead and make up what ever you like with the ones that you have. These blocks are so cute and they will be lovely in what ever you decide to do. Some were going to make placemats, so each mat would be different from the other. If you did this, then you could use the extra blocks you made, into a table runner that would go down the middle of your table with the different chicken mats all around it...would look so cute!
I haven't decided what I will make with my blocks yet. Got them all out yesterday and looked at them again....really like what every one did. So, now I will have to get creative and decide what I want to do?????
