Hey fishylady!!!Welcome....it is good to have you on our forum....
I used to sew a lot of clothing as well...do you find it hard to find fabric suitable for clothing any more...?
I have some yardages that I am going ot make a few things for school next year....but that is stuff I have had for a long time.

Hi Jessica
Thanks for welcoming to the forum. I have to admit that I don't sew clothes as much as I used to. But yes it is getting hard to find good fabric for clothing. I think the quilting craze has taken over most fabric shops, not that is a bad thing. lol I too have fabric from years ago, my mom was a professional seamstress and when she passed away I got all of her fabric among many other things. Some of the fabric she had was almost as old as me. I have tried to use what I could for quilts and other crafts that I do. But there was just so much that I ended up donating a lot of the fabric to a Senior Citizens home where the ladies could indulge in whatever they liked without having to buy fabric. I saw on another blog that you enjoy reading. I too love to read, have tons of books it seems like, all have been read. I keep my libray card pretty busy as well. I g oin streaks of reading, then quilting, then some other craft or another. I have to admit reading is my first passion.

Hi Lynda,
Albuquerque is certainly a very different city to live in. I have been here most of my adult life and have seen lots of changes. If you ever get a chance to come back, it would be nice if you come during our hot air balloon fiesta. It always starts the first Saturday of October and runs thru the following week ending on Sunday. The balloons are awesome, especially when there are so many up in the sky at the same time. Plus at the balloon park there are tons of things for people to see and do. We are the only city I know of that lets people get up close and personal with the balloons and the pilots on the field. The NM Quilters Guilde always has a booth and they raffle off a balloon quilt which represents the theme of the fiesta for that year. So far I haven't been lucky enough to win, but it is nice to see the quilts that are made and get patterns for the one they are raffling off.

hopefully in the next year or so I'll mark down about the balloon fiesta that would be so cool to see

We drove through there a few months ago ...we were on a job interview...I also have a an old suite mate from college that was from around that area...I think she lived in a small town close by. I think NM is a beatiful state...such unusual (to me anyway) scenery(sp)...I have been to Santea Fe and Taos a few times as well.
I am glad tht you mentioned the Hot Air Balloon Festival. When I am no longer teaching...and am free during October...that is one of the trips I want to make.
I have seen pictures and would love to see them in person.
Have you made any of the quilts from the festival?
