Merry Christmas and Happy Quilting in the New Year
by Spectrumom 1 Year, 7 Months ago
I have actually been sewing more recently. I made some gifts from the Quilting Arts Christmas mag. The stockings are soooo fun and I find I love embellishing, which I have never done before. It's a great way to do a quick project and try some new things.

I'm really looking forward to the new year and the chance for winter to force me indoors to sew. I despise foul weather, but welcome the chance to get to a few projects. It is hard on my kids, especially because of the autism. They just really need to get out and move. But my middle one loves to sew, and I want to get him into the sewing room lots more. I have to lock him out when he's not supervised, because he has a tendency to take apart my Janome.

I hope the rest of you guys have a great Christmas/Chanukah/Kwanza or just a nice solstice!

Naomi

I have sewn and quilted so much in the last couple of months getting things ready for Christmas gifts...it was a solace in troubled times...I am glad that I have that to help relieve stress....Even with all of the fabric that I buy and notions that I just have to have....it is cheaper than a psychiatrist. I am looking forward to new projects in the new year....I have a few in mind..but I have made soem resolutions...one is not to buy or print out any more patterns for one year. I have tons already....I will only buy fabric for existing patterns.

I have a dream of creating a Christmas quilt for each of my children...I am not sure when I will get started on those...or if it will remain a dream...each child thought it would be wonderful to have and pull out it Christmas to make it merrier...

Weel, I suppose I should close this post...it is a long one...I guess I am making up for lost time..

Jessica

A Happy New Year to ALL!!!!

I was able to get some pj's sewn for the grandkids for Christmas.....I think this might becoming a tradition gift

WHAT buy fabric for exsisting patterns.....NO,NO,NO too much fun to purchase fabric that makes the soul sing regardless of what you may use it for!!

YES, Christmas quilts are wonderful to have and use....I drag mine out around the first of November and keep them out till the end of Jan..... would bring them out in October, but they would clash with the halloween quilts

Darling Jessica..... don't know what you have going on in your life to make you sad and stressed....remember, we are here for you and have an open ear to help you out

Thank you for your kind words...it is amazing how just a few kind words from someone I have never met can help me through the day. I think it is a lesson...that we should always speak kind words to people even at the grocery store, anywhere, etc...we never know what it may do for them.

You know, I have thought about sewing some PJ's for the kids...I always buy them some for Christmas...traditionally it was the only gift they could open on Christmas Eve....so they went to bed in new jammies...they are all grown now...but still love the tradition. I thought it might be fun to make everyone a plaid night shirt...soemthing different and fun...I don't know how they would go for it...

Any may be I should not worry about my stache of patterns and fabric...they do bring me joy...and how nice to be able to throw something together for a shower or wedding or b-day...and not have to go to the store.
